Getting phone calls from "Microsoft"?

The scam usually goes like that: Someone calling you, telling you they have monitored your computer and it's having or is spreading a virus. They need to take over your computer to fix that right away.

Once you have given them access, they'll show you bogus screenshots with hundreds of error messages. An initial assessment will be around $30 which requires your credit card. After a while more bogus screens will be presented.

Now it's worse than thought and it's more money to fix it.

At the end of it, you'll have signed up for a monthly "service" so your computer stays secure. -->  If you decide to hang up after they have taken over, chances are they will lock you out from your computer! Be aware of anything like that, it's most likely a scam.
